GodGames, the publisher formerly known as Gathering of Developers, has announced that Serious Sam, its latest shooter, has shipped to stores. The arcade-action game was developed by Croatian game developer Croteam, and it is being distributed by Jack of All Games, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive. In the game, players assume the role of Sam "Serious" Stone, a Special Forces veteran on a mission to save the human race from destruction. Stone must travel back in time to ancient Egypt to assassinate an evil being known as Notorious Mental.

Serious Sam features both single-player and multiplayer modes, and it supports more than 50 enemies on the screen at one time. The multiplayer mode allows up to four players to progress through the game together in a split-screen mode or fight one another in a deathmatch-style game.

For more information, take a look at our in-depth preview of the game. Serious Sam will soon arrive in stores for a suggested retail price of $19.99. We'll post a full review of the game soon.
