Gathering of Developers has announced that its first-person shooter Serious Sam has gone gold. The game was developed by Croteam, a studio based in Croatia, and it was originally planned to be published by Gathering's On Deck Interactive division. Serious Sam will now be published directly by Gathering of Developers, since it was announced yesterday that On Deck has folded.

Serious Sam is a fast-paced action game that stars Sam "Serious" Stone, a Special Forces veteran on a quest to save the world. The game takes players back in time to ancient Egypt in order to stop the evil plans of the villain, Notorious Mental. To find out more, take a look at our in-depth preview of the game. Serious Sam is scheduled to ship in the next two weeks, and it has a suggested retail price of $19.99.
