Bloodborne received rapturous praise upon release earlier this week, but the game's launch hasn't gone entirely smoothly. Long load times were immediately reported (something Sony and From Software are investigating), but now comes what sounds like a more serious problem with the PlayStation 4 game.
Gamers on Reddit and GameSpot sister site GameFAQs are reporting that they've discovered a significant bug that blocks their progress in some areas. Some players are even calling it a "game-breaking" issue.
A fix for this bug (full, spoilery details about it are below) is in the works, a Sony representative told GameSpot. For now, however, avoiding the problem area sounds simple enough.
The Bloodborne bug involves the Lunarium Key. Due to the bug, this key--found in the Byrgenwerth location--does not spawn. Without the key, players can't fight the area's boss (and access the unlocks received for defeating him), nor can they visit Master Willem or the Moonside Lake.
According to Sony, to steer clear of the bug, make sure you do not initiate a multiplayer session in Bloodborne's Forbidden Woods area by using the Small Resonant Bell or Sinister Resonant Bell items.
This temporary workaround is not ideal, of course, but it sounds better than the alternative.
A hotfix to address the bug, version 1.02, will be released sometime next week. As mentioned earlier, Sony and From Software are also looking into a patch that reduces load times and fixes additional bugs. A timeline for this patch, however, has not been announced.
