Sega today announced three more games from its back catalog will soon be available for the Wii's Virtual Console downloadable game service, and all of them represent vintage franchises.

The Virtua Fighter series made its name in arcades and on the Saturn, while Alex Kidd and Wonder Boy were Sega action franchises that gained prominence in the pre-Sonic days of the Sega Master System. However, it is the Genesis installments of all three properties that will soon appear on the Virtual Console.

Virtua Fighter 2 on the Genesis lacked its counterparts' additions of Shun Di and Lion, but it packed the rest of the roster into a 2D approximation of the series' signature gameplay. Just as Virtua Fighter 2 was the series first and only foray onto the Genesis, so too were Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle and Wonder Boy in Monster World the Master System mascots' only North American appearances on the system.

Each of the three games will sell for 800 Wii points ($8).
