Sega Rally Online Arcade pulling up to XBLA, PSN

Publisher bringing Rally Revo, Rally 3-inspired racer to downloadable platforms later this year.

by

Sega called it quits on its Racing Studio after the release of Sega Rally Revo in 2007, but the franchise itself has been given another track date. Today, Sega announced Sega Rally Online Arcade, a downloadable racer set for release through Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network later this year. Pricing information has not yet been announced.

Sega Rally Online Arcade will feature elements that played heavily into Sega Rally Revo and its arcade complement, Sega Rally 3. According to the publisher, gamers will find all of the features found in those two titles, including Championship Battle Mode and Time Attack. The game will also feature online multiplayer races for up to five. Thirteen rally cars will be available to choose from, all rendered with high-definition graphics.

Sega Rally returns in 2011.

Sega did not indicate any other features that it would bring over from Rally Revo. However, as a possible list, the 2007 title featured real-time track deformation, as well as eight environment types based on real-world locations. Car classes included licensed 4WD, 2WD, and "classic" cars, as well as multiplayer modes that were available both online and offline.

Sega should put its best am2 arcades in the xbox live games room along with companys atari, konami and intellvision. im sure everyone would love to play original arcade versions of Outrun, Sega Rally, daytona USA and athelete kings

I love the Sega Rally series. The game was always tough to beat the times they had and you had to master the controls to finish first. People need to remember this is arcade style racing, so the physics aren't realistic, but the fun is. I was hoping they would give us 16 player online for Daytona U.S.A. That's what I want.

Hmm, I wonder who they got to develop this. I would be a surprise for me if it was AM2.

I still haven't played GT5 enough. I don't think this will turn out to be that amazing.
