Sega cuts jobs as part of wider consolidation efforts

Sonic publisher Sega has cut a "limited number" of jobs from its European office in London as part of a wider consolidation of the company's Sonic and mobile departments, the company announced today.

"Sega is in the process of consolidating certain functions of the Sonic and Mobile departments within Sega of America, where the management and production for those areas of the business reside," a Sega representative told Polygon. "As part of that strategy a limited number of redundancies have taken effect in our European office, based in London."

These job losses come after Sega also cut positions late last year as a means to "adapt and adjust" in an effort to succeed in an "ever-changing environment," Sega said at the time.

One of Sega's biggest upcoming projects in Sonic Boom, currently in development for Wii U and 3DS. The game will be accompanied by an all-new toy line and even a TV show.
