Sega comments on Phantasy Star Online 2

A sequel to Phantasy Star Online is already being considered, and it should be released for the Sega Dreamcast.

Charles Bellfield, vice president of marketing and corporate communications at Sega of America, has confirmed that Sega intends to release a sequel to Phantasy Star Online for the Dreamcast. In an interview with GameWeek, Bellfield said that Sega has every intention of continuing the series and already has plans to release Phantasy Star Online 2.

"There will be a PSO 2," Bellfield told the publication. "It will be a new game. We are definitely planning to keep the Phantasy Star Online franchise continuing, absolutely. For the record, we sold 75,000 copies of PSO on the first day."

Today, Sega of America could not officially confirm the game, but an SOA spokesperson told GameSpot that "a sequel to Phantasy Star Online is being considered, but no further details have been announced at this time." GameSpot will have further details as specific announcements are made regarding Phantasy Star Online 2.
