Section 8: Prejudice beta hits this fall

TimeGate inviting PC gamers to try out first-person shooter's new content, features, Games for Windows Live integration before early 2011 launch.

TimeGate Studios is hoping to bias gamers in favor of its Section 8: Prejudice with an early peek at the first-person shooter sequel's multiplayer component. Today, the developer announced a PC beta program for Section 8: Prejudice.

The Section 8: Prejudice beta will give PC players an early look at the game.

Prejudice is scheduled for an early 2011 launch on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, with the beta scheduled to run this fall. Prospective PC beta participants can sign up for the program at the game's official Web site.

Those who are accepted will get to test out the game's new features, as well as Games for Windows Live integration intended to streamline the matchmaking process and improve server browsing. No such beta has been announced for the console versions of the game.

The original Section 8 launched just over a year ago on the PC and Xbox 360 and received a PlayStation 3 port in March. The shooter eschewed convention by merging the genre-standard match types like escort missions and capture the flag into a single Conquest mode that could have multiple team-based objectives running at the same time. The game also featured a distinctive alternative to respawning, with players dropping from orbit and guiding themselves to their desired location on the map as they fell.

Oh I was hoping for Section 8 to burn in hell and the devs to go bust for making such an awful game, wait no 'awful' would too kind of a word.

First one was a breath of fresh air. Hopefully this will fix some of the annoyances that killed the first one. I really hope they are succesful, Timegate definately deserves it for making games that are original.

I brought the first off of PSN and when i played the trial i wanted it and when i brought it on special offer for £8pound on PSN i regretted my purchase, all i can say is psn players brought it for £20 so they should get access to the beta for buying it for £20

Let us hope that they have learned from their mistakes.

Very odd title for a videogame, because there's definitely "Prejudice" in "Section 8 Housing". I guess these game developers have never been poor and experienced section 8 housing. The title of the game is quite conflicting.

The first one was horrible. Usually sequels of bad games are just as bad...

@KillerJuan77 really? its people like you that keep south peak a float. Worthless company with terrible titles except for Big Bang Mini. I looked around a bit and it doesn't seem like South peak has their dirty hands on this title. So maybe it stands a better chance in this market of fps today.

Great, plus I really like GFWL so it's a bonus.

@unreal_master Actually Section 8 was a great crossover between Battlefield and Tribes, but the generic art style and lack of single player mode (Plus the price) definetely hurt it. Also, Two Worlds is pretty fun if you look beyond the horrible framerate (For the 360 version) and bad voice acting.

Wow so terrible games like this and two worlds get sequels but not something like chrono trigger :l fail

Hopefully they listen to some constructive feedbakc for the beta testers. Seems like that could have helped pull the first one out of medeocrity.
