Now, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced a September 15 North American release date for the DS exclusive. Developed by suburban Seattle-based 5TH Cell, makers of 2007's Drawn to Life, the game is rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and up and will retail for $29.99.
Like Drawn to Life, Scribblenauts is a puzzle/platform hybrid that let players create in-game items that they can use to solve puzzles and defeat foes. However, while the older game asked payers to draw items, the forthcoming title will require players to type the name of what they want to appear. GameSpot's previewers conjured up such items as dragons, helicopters, bug spray, time machines, the Chupacabra, and the Ebola virus. According to 5TH Cell, the items--which must be nouns--"behave as they would in real life."
Scribblenauts' story follows protagonist Maxwell on his quest to acquire stars in each of 200 different levels. 5TH Cell promises that each level will have a variety of solutions and that the game will include multiple play modes and unlockable content.
