Enix Japan has announced that Dragon Quest VII has sold an astounding 3.5 million copies since its release on August 26. That number far exceeds sales of any previous games for the PlayStation and makes it one of the fastest selling games of all time for the console. To meet the demand, Enix plans to ship close to 4 million total units of the game in Japan by March 2001.

A US release of the game has not been announced. When questioned about the US release of the game, John Laurence, product manager for Enix America, told GameSpot that, at this time, there isn't even a tentative US release date for the game. Enix does, however, plan to rerelease Dragon Warrior and Dragon Warrior 2 for the Game Boy Color on September 22.
