Construction on the latest Saw game has nearly wrapped, as Konami today nailed down a release date for its horror puzzle sequel. Set for release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 19, Saw II: Flesh & Blood will arrive in stores just in time for Halloween and the theatrical debut of Saw VII 3D.

The Saw games have vomited viscera into a genre typically defined by tile swapping and falling blocks.

Saw II casts players as the son of the original movie's ill-fated protagonist. As in Konami's first Saw title, gameplay will consist of puzzles, minigames, and a dash of fighting as players try to guide the hero safely through the booby-trap-filled world of the serial killer Jigsaw.

Konami is drawing on the Saw films for more than simple inspiration. The publisher is also borrowing the annualized emphasis of the movie series. Saw II: Flesh & Blood will arrive in stores barely a year after the October 2009 launch of the original game.
