Eidos Interactive has announced that it will publish Salt Lake 2002, the official video game of the Olympic Winter Games. The game is in development at UK-based Attention to Detail, and it is scheduled for release in January 2002 for the Sony PlayStation 2 and the PC.

Salt Lake 2002 will let players compete in six official events: men's snowboard parallel giant slalom, men's alpine skiing downhill, ladies' alpine skiing slalom, men's two-man bobsleigh, women's freestyle skiing aerials, and men's ski jumping K120 individual. The game will feature a number of single- and multiplayer game modes, and it will use the latest motion-capture animation technology and real-time physics.
