Saints Row publisher will release Goat Simulator as a boxed product in the UK

GOATY.

Koch Media, the owner of Saints Row publisher Deep Silver, will release indie darling Goat Simulator as a boxed product in the UK.

The retail edition of Goat Simulator retail edition will be released on May 23. It's the same game. It comes in a box. It will almost certainly require Steam to redeem.

What can you do with that box? Keep it on your shelf. Look at it. Responsibly recycle it in the future, perhaps.

Pricing was not mentioned. You can buy the game as a download right now for £6.99/$9.99.

I'm shocked there's people who'd wanted to buy a box version of this.

I own the digital version of Goat Simulator, but I will definitely pick up the boxed version. This game is incredible, it really is, I thought goats were boring animals that made nice produce like milk and cheese, but how wrong I was. Goat Simulator has shown me just how impressive goats really are.

this would only be worth it if they included some payed DLC.

Can you box something else instead, rather than box a bad joke that went on for too long and wasn't funny to begin with?

It's just not a good game.

I normally go for physical over digital because it's cheaper and I don't like having to wait ages to download. However how can this be successful unless it's like £3? seeing as it has been £4-5 on GMG etc since release.

That goes a little bit too far I think, the cover better explain that it isn't a real game.

Save the plastic.  I'll buy the game directly from Steam.

Also, don't continue the trend of selling broken games at retail...EA already has that covered. :P

That makes sense, the Chinese market needs something to play!

@homey_d_clown  LOL They can also play Minecraft, only need to censor the part where you kill animals in order to survive.

@Saidrex Not really.  I always purchase the boxed version of a game unless it is digital only.  Even then, I wait until it comes way down in price.  I like my boxed copy from a collector's standpoint.

@gamerno66666 They don't want to be caught giving it a higher score than Titanfall.  Microsoft's marketing department would not be pleased.

@neowarrior121 @DanielL5583 And for what? Being an unfunny joke?

It doesn't matter if the game is bad by design. It's like eating an incredibly spicy curry with the intention of producing a stinky ripe turd. It's still going to be a stinky ripe turd; no-one wants that, or at least, no sane person wants that.

And don't tell me it's funny because it's buggy. Yes, bugs and glitches are funny...WHEN YOU DON'T EXPECT THEM. The joke is lost by there being a descriptor on Steam saying "Millions of bugs!". That's not funny! That's unprofessional!

I fail to understand how Goat Simulator is even remotely good, funny, interesting or award-worthy.
