Rydia's Tale in FFIV: The After Years available
E3 2009: Square Enix announces the release of Rydia's Tale, the first episode in its latest WiiWare game.
LOS ANGELES--The sequel to the popular Super Nintendo classic Final Fantasy IV: The After Years arrives on WiiWare today, available to download for 800 Wii points and an additional 300 for Rydia's Tale, the first of nine episodes.
Originally released for mobile phones in Japan, this epic journey is set 17 years after the events of the original game. In a time of peace, the second moon has magically appeared and is now uncomfortably close to the Blue Planet. The story follows the young prince Ceodore, son of Cecil and Rosa, who must uncover the truth regarding the strange events that have unfolded in his world.
The After Years will have single-player and multiplayer modes. Players can team up so they can coordinate their commands into a single attack. This mode allows up to four players to band together in battle. The game's lunar phases will also play a large role in combat, which will affect the physical and magical abilities of players and foes. Rare creatures may also appear during specific lunar phases.
Final Fantasy IV: The After Years is available exclusively for the Nintendo Wii, and future episodes are set to be released in the coming months.
