Australia-based HES Interactive has today released new information on Rugby League for the PC, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. Kiwi league superstar Stacey Jones has recently signed up to endorse the game, and, consequently, it will be released as Stacey Jones Rugby League in New Zealand.

"I'm extremely excited to be a part of this project," Jones said. "It's great to see a video game that captures the true feel of a rugby league and allows fans to get involved at a whole new level."

Rugby League will feature 35 officially licensed teams with accurate player statistics, and players will be able to pit them against each other in no less than 25 realistic stadiums. Up to four players will be able to take to the field simultaneously in the Xbox version of the game, while the PS2 and PC versions will feature support for up to eight players. Solo players will be able to enjoy five difficulty levels and plenty of bonus features and content to unlock.

Rugby League is currently scheduled for release in Australia and New Zealand in October. No North American or European release dates have been announced at this time. For more information on Rugby League, check out our previous coverage of the game.
