Until recently, Rocket Knight star Sparkster would have been fine fodder for a Forgotten Mascots feature. However, Sparkster no longer qualifies, as Konami's downloadable Rocket Knight has jogged the opossum platforming hero back into memory.
Rocket Knight ($14.99) debuted last week on Steam and Xbox Live Arcade and finishes its rounds by headlining this week's slate of new offerings on the PlayStation Store. In the game, players control Sparkster as he tries to take out an army of hostile wolves, mixing platforming levels with side-scrolling shoot-'em-up action on the way. Konami also added challenge levels to the mix, with players able to compare their best times through online leaderboards.
The nostalgia train continues on the PlayStation 3, as gamers can now also download an adaptation of the classic game show The Price is Right for $9.99 (complete with popular challenges like Plinko and Cliff Hangers) or relive the original PlayStation days with the newly downloadable PSone kart racer Bomberman Fantasy Race ($5.99). Finally, those who subscribed to Telltale Games' new Sam & Max season on PSN can now download the second full episode, The Tomb of Sammun-Mak.
Over on the PSP, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands gets a downloadable debut day-and-date with the retail release. Timed to coincide with this month's feature film debut for the series, the $39.99 action game takes its inspiration from the series' Sands of Time story arc and includes side-scrolling gameplay designed specifically for the PSP.
If the Prince's asking price is a bit steep, Sony also has a pair of new PSP Minis on sale. For $4.99 each, gamers can now download Manic Monkey Mayhem and Supermarket Mania for the handheld.
A full list of the week's deals and new PlayStation Store content, including themes, wallpapers, demos, discounts, and add-on content, is available on the official PlayStation Blog.
