Rock of Ages rolling onto XBLA August 31

Atlus and Ace Team's "tower offense" game gets dated for Xbox 360; PS3 and PC versions to follow later this summer.

Though its name might suggest a timeless quality, Rock of Ages is definitely dated. Atlus today announced that the downloadable game will arrive on Xbox Live Arcade August 31, with PC and PlayStation 3 releases to follow "later this summer."

This summer, Rock. Will. Roll.

A distinctive concoction of tower defense, Marble Madness, and art history, Rock of Ages has players engaging in a series of pitched castle-versus-castle battles. Players take turns controlling massive boulders in an attempt to bring their enemy's fortifications down, at the same time investing in upgrades for their own defenses.

Rock of Ages is being developed by Santiago, Chile-based Ace Team. The studio is best known for making Zeno Clash, the downloadable first-person action fighting game released on the PC and Xbox 360. It is also working on a sequel to Zeno Clash, but that project has no release window as yet.

@Warlord_Irochi Surely you don't agree with Microsoft's decisions to force timed exclusivity on multiplatform downloadable games? No gamer should be applauding this..and I find it confusing that Microsoft needs to do that considering they have a great amount of excellent first party titles on XBLA ("Shadow Complex," "Banjo" remakes, "Trials HD")

@Gelugon_baat Those are Indie games, not full fleshed arcade titles. Big difference

@KevinPlanet Exclusivity is a paid offer. Sony could do the same, they just don't want to.

Why is it coming to PS3 and PC at a later date? I'm kinda tired of these timed exclusives favoring XBLA over other platforms

One of the funniest commercials I've seen in a long time. The preview video is a panic.

I'm gonna try the demo and see what it's like. Had no idea it was even a tower-defense game, but I've been enjoying many a tower defense game lately so that could be a good thing.

The staggered release dates get old. They don't make people want to buy the systems just annoys gamers.
