Is this the start of a price war?

Amazon and play.com have both slashed £40 (that's over 20%) of the total price for Rock Band for preorders (which both sites are now accepting. They are both running the instrument set at £99.99 and the game at £39.99, compared to the RRPs of £129.99 and £49.99...

Amazon and Play lead the pack...

EA has confirmed to us today that it is not changing the prices they recommend to retailers in the foreseeable future... but these fairly drastic cuts pre-launch have to be a good sign for anyone looking to buy the game.

Other retailers look to be following suit to some extent... and it's likely to get very interesting if anyone drops below the £139.98 price point. If you see any lower prices around the Web or on the high street, let us know!

i suspect the currency exchange rates have something to do with the high pricing?

Yea, PLAY.com has had that pricing ever since the RRP was initially announced. It's still slightly over-priced; but it's better than nothing I guess.

(Farnsworth Voice) Good news everyone, Rock Band can now be bought by the average European based human being. I'll gladly buy it at that price.

Fantastic news; I was getting afraid I'd have to stump up the outrageous RRP. I should order online more...
