Under the terms of the agreement, Mad Catz will be responsible for worldwide retail sales, promotion, and distribution for Rock Band 4 the game and its hardware bundles. Meanwhile, Harmonix will handle Rock Band 4 digital sales and content, such as DLC tracks and more.

As mentioned previously, Mad Catz is also working on new wireless guitar, bass, and drum controllers for Rock Band 4. The deal announced today is an extension of the previous partnership between Mad Catz and Harmonix, which saw Mad Catz make a number of guitar peripherals for Rock Band 3.

“We’re excited to extend our agreement with Harmonix, and are confident that Mad Catz' global sales force, distribution channels, and retail marketing expertise will deliver the retail success we believe Rock Band 4 will achieve in 2015 and beyond," Mad Catz president and chief executive officer Darren Richardson said.

Harmonix product manager Daniel Sussman added: "We couldn't be happier to be working closely with Mad Catz to deliver Rock Band 4 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 to a worldwide audience this year."

More information about Rock Band 4 will be shared during E3, which is now just two months away.

Joining Rock Band 4 this fall will be Guitar Hero Live from Activision. The first installment in the series since 2010's Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, Guitar Hero Live is also making a number of interesting advancements to the traditional Guitar Hero series.
