TDK Interactive has announced that the official title for its upcoming multiplatform Robotech game is Robotech: Battlecry. The game, which is a mission-driven arcade-style shooter, puts players in the role of a Veritech Fighter pilot who must help fight off an invasion of Zentraedi soldiers. In addition, players can transform their Veritech Fighter into one of three different forms: fighter plane, battloid (a humanoid robot), or guardian (a combination of the fighter and battloid). The game will have a number of different environments ranging from crowded cities to deep space. Missions will have varying objectives that can include escort, search and destroy, and guard objectives.

"We are extremely pleased about our partnership with Mattel and Harmony Gold, along with developer Vicious Cycle," said Vincent Bitetti, chief executive officer of TDK Mediactive. "Our upcoming games have captured the dramatic storyline, art direction, and amazing battle sequences that characterize the Robotech universe."

Robotech: Battlecry is scheduled for release on the GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox in the fall. The Game Boy Advance Robotech game, Robotech: The Macross Saga, will also be released in the fall.
