Ridley Scott and Battlestar Galactica director working on new Halo project

Spielberg's TV project will be unaffected by Ridley Scott's upcoming "digital feature project."

by

The Halo TV series with Steven Spielberg is still in the works, but Microsoft has another non-game project to announce. And this one involves Alien director Ridley Scott.

A press release from Microsoft today stated, "343 Industries, Xbox Entertainment Studios and Scott Free Productions are proud to announce a new Halo digital feature project to be released later this year."

Ridley Scott will serve as an executive producer and Sergio Mimica-Gezzan (who directed several episodes of the Battlestar Galactica TV series) will direct.

Few other details are currently available for this "digital feature project," but given that very specific designation, it's probably safe to assume that it'll be less of a standard Hollywood movie and something more along the lines of the critically well-received Halo: Forward Unto Dawn project.

Prometheus was a good movie but the characters were retarded

Ridley Scott used to be great, now he's too senile to care :(

Halo is generic Hollywood bullshit.

Not sure if anyone else noticed, but one of the tracks in Halo 4 and Prometheus sounded very similar, at least 30 seconds worth.

Great, maybe at some point a Halo ring will crash into a planet and a Spartan will run away from it, in the wrong direction

It should be a documentary about how Halo ruined the first person shooter.

I want health packs and 10+ guns in my fps games.  REAL guns, not PlaySkool bullshit.

Ridley Scott is great. I believe he directed the first Alien movie. This should be great!

Maybe Ridley Scott should stick to ruining his own beloved IPs?  After Prometheus, don't want him anywhere near Halo.

@AstartesLegion  I believe the show has gone nowhere. Thus I will correct you: "Battlestart Galactica is an amazing show"

@vadagar1 Most characters in horror movies are retarded and have no sense of self-preservation.

@Hurvl  If only Killzone had the fanbase of Halo as a franchise Sony would surely put some more work into it :< I love Killzone but it feels... too specific, or not for everyone. Like you need to like every aspect of it to like it at all.

Sorry if this doesn't make much sense, English is not my first language so my expression in it is not always good.

If you're referring to Prometheus, that's one film, and Ridley Scott wasn't really behind that. Damon Lindelof was. I should also say, the movie doesn't have as many 'plot holes' that people think, and the things it leaves out leave it to ones imagining until later, which I don't mind. The main problem Prometheus has is its dumb, mostly unlikable characters, and even the likable characters had cringe worthy dialogue or unearned moments.

@sladakrobot he also made Prometheus though, so we should be somewhat cautious with our excitement.

@DrKill09  I don't like the Halo series that much... but console shooters would be nowhere without it. Before Halo the only 2 great console shooters were Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, but Halo's influence is noteworthy.

@DrKill09  Yeah, because there needs to be more games like COD out there....

Predator? I don't get it. That's random. Ridley never worked on a Predator movie.

@nparks  Prometheus started off strong and really captivated me, but towards the end it got kinda "ehhhhhh"

@BlackBaldwin  I love both, but pretty much anything that has to do with or has someone who worked on BSG is great to me.

@zerohournow Prometheus wasn't as good as Alien or Aliens, but I still thought it was a great film, and should for little reason make people skeptic. The larger problems weren't even due to his work on the film.

NorseLax09
NorseLax09

@andfx8 @nparks  Really, i think we can all agree that Michael Fassbender was the reason the movie was anywhere near "good". And damn is he good!

@KeenoControl @zerohournow@sladakrobotSo did I. Excellent entertainment, but as a scientist I really question some of the behaviour featured there. People act totally stupid for the sake of creating drama.
