Revolution Software has announced that it will unveil the next game in its popular Broken Sword series at a press conference at this year's ECTS event, which will be held in London later this month. The game is scheduled for release toward the end of 2003 for the PC and all current-generation consoles. A publisher has yet to be announced for the game.

"It's been a while coming," said Charles Cecil, managing director at Revolution. "But the wait is almost over. Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon is on track and looking amazing. I'm very excited about showing the game for the first time."

The Sleeping Dragon, which has been in development for around six months, uses a new ray-tracing graphics engine, making it the first fully 3D game in the series. The game will move away from the point-and-click gameplay style of previous installments, but it will still star Broken Sword heroes George Stobbard and Nico Collard and is promised to feature as engrossing a storyline as its predecessors.

"This is our biggest release to date," Cecil said. "And what better way to debut it than at Europe's largest interactive entertainment trade show? Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon has been the subject of much speculation since we announced it. ECTS will be the first chance for the press to see it for real."

Attendees at the August 29 press conference, GameSpot included, will see a video trailer for the game followed by a demonstration of playable code. Be sure to check out our coverage from the show floor later this month.
