"Retry" is an upcoming game that is so difficult it will make you feel like you've "stepped into an 8-bit time machine."

From the makers of Angry Birds comes a new Flappy Bird-style game that is "so hard, so addictive, so old school."

Angry Birds developer Rovio Entertainment has announced a new game called "Retry," which bears similarities to the hugely popular (and no longer available) Flappy Bird.

Retry is described as "a game so hard, so addictive, so old school that you'll think you've stepped into an 8-bit time machine and gone back to 1986. Totally rad!" Like Flappy Bird, Retry challenges players to fly through a level without colliding with objects. "Fly. Crash. Repeat. It's called 'Retry for a reason," Rovio says.

Retry is available now on iTunes in Finland, Canada, and Poland. There's no word yet on when it will see a wider release or if it's also coming to Android devices.

The game is released through Rovio's new "LVL 11" publishing label. Rovio executive vice president Jami Laes told PocketGamer.biz that this new experimental publishing arm was established for games that "don't necessarily fit the normal thinking" of what gamers might expect to be a new game from the makers of Angry Birds.

This is what the fanboys of hardcore dream of, a game that is really just about being hard, not really anything else.  Yes!!!!  Gotta appease that market, they can't simply change the difficulty on practically any game to just 'hard' or 'extreme', etc.

1. It's really difficult, lets call it "Retry!" Stupid name.

2. When you "crash" you don't crash, you just stop... lame.

I don't see how "games" like this get any press.  They aren't real games.

My old cel phone from 2007 could play a version of Snakes.  That doesn't mean there should be a news story about it.

They still make those Tiger Electronics black and white lcd games.  Do you make news articles on those?

There is nothing "old school" about a shitty cel phone game.

Harder than Boshi? Doubtful.

Flappy Bird clone that you've released through a no-name publisher label cos you're too embarassed / trying to hide your "famous" name. Well done. One day they'll realise that quality has nothing to do with whether something goes viral.

I'm kinda getting tired of games getting their gimmick difficulty from having borderline broken controls. If I'm in the masochistic mood I'll usually fire up one of the newer Rayman games or Super Meat Boy.

Looks like an obnoxious sandwich with bad touch screen controls on the side.

"so hard, so addictive, so old school" Such difficulty, many retries, very 8-bit. Wow.

Whoa! Easy there with the word "addictive". Might have to take it down after release!

@DrKill09 Apparently you may not be familiar with Eddies "work". This is actually one of his more newsworthy articles as un newsworthy as it may be. Feel free to search for some of his articles and tell me I'm wrong. And I'm not the only one who knows this.

@console_war_vet  You say borderline broken controls, i say precise controls that actually take some skill and patience to get right.

@vader501st LOL. Eddie probably curled up like a ball shaking and saying please don't kill me again after he tried a Souls game. That is if he had enough balls to even try it. I swear he gets bashed so much but I have never seen him defend himself so I am wondering if he even has a legitimate pair.

@Gamer3344 I've got a jailbroken iPhone and I'm already playing this.

Just kidding, I don't even own an iPhone and I only play PC games. Was I correct about what "ja*******en" meant? It was the only thing I could come up with that had enough letters.

@demondogx Yeah, that's a big "IF".  Too bad, both games could have been something much more than just really hard.  However this flappy game, that's all it's got going for it.

Nevermind, after actually reading it, it's not even close to newsworthy of any sort. Good job again, Eddie. Where in God's green Earth did you get your degree?

@raydawg2000 @console_war_vet Play Dark Souls 1 again and then play another AAA hack and slash game, Dark Souls is quite clunky in comparison.  I haven't played Dark Souls 2 so I can't attest to that game.

And it even makes sense in this case :).
