According to the PlayDate 2001 report, for which 25 major US retail chains were polled on what they believe will be hot sellers this year, the PlayStation 2 will be the best-selling video game console this coming holiday season. PlayDate also predicts that the best-selling game this holiday season will be Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty for the PlayStation 2. Nintendo holds four spots on the top-10 list of expected software sales this holiday season, with two for the Game Boy Advance and two for the GameCube. THQ also made a respectable showing with two of its Game Boy Advance games and one of its PlayStation 2 games making the top 10. None of the 30 games expected for release this year for Microsoft's Xbox made the top 10. Acclaim's Dave Mirra's Freestyle BMX 2, which will be released for all three platforms, was the only game to make PlayDate's properties-to-watch list.
