Retailer lists Assassin's Creed: Rising Phoenix as a PlayStation Vita game

Another screenshot for Assassin's Creed: Rising Phoenix surfaces as Spanish retailer lists the game for PlayStation Vita.

by

Assassin's Creed: Rising Phoenix is a PlayStation Vita spin-off, if a listing by Spanish retailer XtraLife is to be believed.

The now removed product listing (spotted by All Games Beta) dated the game for October 10, three weeks before Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Following an image last week showing the logo of the series' Erudito Collective, a new screenshot shows two figures adorned in white hoodies bearing the logo of present-day series villains Abstergo Industries.

Ubisoft has already announced that Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will feature a modern-day storyline with players will take the role of a researcher at Abstergo.

Much like the last image, Assassin's Creed: Lineage studio Ubisoft Digital Arts is name dropped.

Ubisoft declined to comment when approached by GameSpot.

This needs to have the Tenacious D song Rise of the Phoenix as main theme.

I hope it is not another major disappointment as Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines and Assassin's Creed III: Liberation.

BY ALL MEANS! MORE VITA SUPPORT! Loved AC Liberation, looking forward to this one. Hopefully they beta test it better this time so it doesn't have as many bugs as Liberation. Still can't believe they didn't update that game.

its a boring repetitive game ffs

They should just cut the present day stuff from the series, make it so that Desmond is eternally stuck on the memories of the past, and go from generation to generation without the need for the whole story to tie in. I always hate having to go through Desmond's parts...

As for the Vita game, I hope it's great. Need more Vita games to get the console for myself.

I'm sorry, i loved AC and AC 2 and brotherhood, but this series is far past it's prime.  AC 3 just wasn't strong enough mechanically to keep this series interesting for me.   They already did this with AC 2, why over saturate the market again with this series?

I hope Rising Phoenix continues on Aveline's storyline. I didn't understand what happened at the end of liberation.

I hope its good. I was really getting into Liberation until the gimmicks started rolling in. They were just so bad and not the right way to use the Vita's features.

You know, I've been a console gamer all my life, barely getting into PC games. However, recently I've started playing older CRPGs like Neverwinter Nights, Diablo 2, and The Witcher (OMG The Witcher!) because current RPGs for consoles are crap. Being the story buff and completionist that I am, one thing that comforts me about PC games is the knowledge that any sequels to a game will also come out on PC. So although I will keep my seven consoles and two handhelds just to play all the games I like (ridiculous!), I really wish I could play them all on just one device.

the amount of AC games is too damn high!

And yet another reason to hold onto my PSVita, proudly. Im currently knee deep in Persona 4 Golden and i haven't even scratched its surface. I can't wait for Soul Sacrifice, and then Assassin's Creed!

But i have to admit, AC Liberation was by far the worst Vita game i played, and the worst AC game ever. It was so laggy and it crashed a lot. The main character was awful and i just wanted to stab her in the neck. Hopefully they get it right this time.

Great news, i enjoyed liberation far more than AC 3 and with this coming so soon, Ubisoft establishes a a trend i fancy of!

I ll pre-order it as soon as i have the chance and skip AC4.

Seriously, Ubisoft isn't just leaking anymore...

They're literally aiming at us while taking a leak...

Well, I hope the many bugs from AC Liberation won't be on the rise in that game.

Hopefully this won't flop like the last Vita AC game. I have my doubts though.

The one thing I'll say in Ubisoft's defense is that at least the storylines in Assassin's Creed games are a hell of a lot more compelling than the CoD storylines. "Terrorists, right...get a nuclear device....and the whole time you're chasing this one guy, right? It turns out your partner was the bad guy. You like, mash the X button and there's like, this knife, just zing! right there in your goddamn face!...Oh, and lots of explosions and creepy eye tracking."

Maybe it's the history nerd in me, or the fact that I'm still not tired of stealthing two dudes at the same time (not a sex term) and blending in with a crowd before tearing down an alley to climb to the top of a building and survey the night like a superhero. I guess I'm saying I kind of have a crush on the series, could you pass it a note for me?

@vadagar1 I felt the same way about AC 1. But I hear many good things about the series after that one. The only other AC I've played was Liberation for the Vita (because my Vita came with it) and I found it quite delightful. Made me wanna go back and play through the other ones as well.

@vadagar1

Your comment is invalid because you stopped at 1. 2 and 3 are good brotherhood and revelations are repetitive and lazy cut paste jobs that should be avoided.

@OurSin-360 AC4 seems to really embrace naval combat and exploration of small islands and places... things that I personally don't like. I preferred exploring the large cities!

@josh7845 I wouldn't say it was  a flop. It sold 600,000 copies, which is pretty decent amount considering the console it's on has only sold 4 million units. If the Vita was selling better I'm sure it would have sold a lot more, but even then 600,000 is still a good amount. And if  it was a flop, then why would they make another one on Vita?

@LeviHarris I used to be the same as you. The series to me always had something unique about it, but, if you bought all AC's like me (except handheld though), I started to feel that the game is losing its unique feeling by releasing it every year.I bought AC3 and wished they would give it a rest for a while to come back a great game again, but they didn't. And IMO, the story of AC has been going downhill.

josh7845

@LeviHarris Assassin's Creed 3's storyline engaged me far less than Modern Warfare 1 or 3 or World at War or even the first Black Ops. In fact, for me, I haven't really been engaged by an Assassin's Creed game since the second. That's just me though and I respect how you feel towards the CoD series. I suppose that's how it works in any franchise though. Release it too frequently and it begins to become a moldy piece of stale games. CoD and Modern Military Shooters (SpunkGargleWeeWee) have become stale and Assassin's Creed is following suit.

ShadowOfKratos

@tom_cat_01

I'm still hoping for a modern day only assassin't creed (Blade style, with daylight)... If Watch Dogs had swords and stuff, I'd contend myself with that...

josh7845

@staticdash22 @josh7845 @maxermaximus The short story I wrote in elementary school called, "Merlin the Happy Pig" had more depth and complexity than the AC3 story and as for the characterisation and personality of Connor, I found myself more endeared to my pet brick than I was to Connor. Point is, being an improvement on AC3's story isn't something that is particularly noteworthy to me. It was an OK game, just not a great one to me. You probably feel the opposite way and I respect that.

staticdash22
staticdash22

@josh7845 @maxermaximus Not the quality either. The framerate did have some problems but it WASN'T game breaking. It was refreshing to see a female as the lead and I loved that the game deviated from some AC norms. The crashed were mostly fixed by a few patches so if you didn't download them, then that was your problem. Liberation was far better than AC3 in the story. Even Aveline was a better character than Connor lol
