Retail Radar: PS2 Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters

GameStop's online database lists port of High Impact Games' PSP action platformer for Sony's legacy console coming February 12.

Earlier this year, High Impact Games was allowed to play in Insomniac Games' playground with Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, the first outing for the dynamic duo on the PlayStation Portable. Size Matters was the first in Insomniac's humor-infused action platforming series to not be developed in-house, and if the retail radar is to be believed, it might not be the last.

Megaretailer GameStop has listed Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters as shipping out for the PlayStation 2 on February 12. The product page has Sony Computer Entertainment America listed as the game's developer. Currently, High Impact Games is at work on Secret Agent Clank for the PSP, and Insomniac is rumored to be at work on the next installment in the Resistance: Fall of Man franchise for the PS3.

Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters for the PS2 is currently listed for $29.99 through GameStop's online store. Though its rating is still pending, the PSP version was rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older.

Please note, while retailer listings frequently jump the gun on publishers' product announcements, they should not be taken as final confirmation of a game's existence; nor should the absence of a listing be considered as proof that a game isn't coming to a given platform.

finally a good game to be released on the PS2.

I'm really glad that this is happening, since Ratchet: Deadlocked was a rather unorginal and the last of the R&C titles that insomniac developed. It felt like a torn outing without having clank but, its not going to end that way.

"Megaretailer GameStop has listed Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters as shipping out for the PlayStation 2 on February 12" .. february 12th?...well?

I think they should keep them exclusive, by porting the games to the PS2 Sony is only hurting themselfs because less PSPs will be sold and more last gen PS2s i really dont know why i have a PSP i got it because i thought i could get some cool exclusive games but now there all comeing out on PS2. I think sony has dane bad things to all of the PSP owners out there, dont ou agree?

I can't wait for the game to come out on ps2. I disagree with people who say that games should be 'exclusive' to any console. I am a HUGE ratchet and clank fan, but i dont have a psp, so i would be missing out. But now its coming to ps2 i dont have to get upset anymore. YAY!

GOAT_DUDE

no i won't have as much players to play with on my psp version. i think.

the games they make exlusevly for a console shoud only be for that console

"so why do people buy the psp? all of the good games come on the ps2 and cheaper. I bet Silent Hill and castlevaina will be on ps2 in mid 2008. What a waste of money..." good point. from now on I'm just gonna wait for the games to come out on the PS2 than I just bring my 200lb. tv and ps2 on the bus to work.

"Sony overall needs to get it's act together, PS3 failing. PSP is doing "slightly" better than it has. PS2 is selling double the Ps3 at times... This isn't "good" business." If PS2's still selling is a problem, than that's a damn good problem to have. same thing is going to happen when ps3 drops to $150 in the future. after the success of the ps2 I don't think anyone can criticize the ps3 until it's been around for another 5 years.

"The PSP can't compete with the DS Lite. I have them both, but the PSP just takes up space, I'd sell it, but I couldn't much money for it. The DS Lite is 1000 times better." you are wrong. ridge racer 1 and 2, not one but two gta games, daxter, ratchet, exit, wipeout, castlevania, lumines 1 & 2, tomb raider, the syphon filter games, burnout legends, metal gear, loco roco, katamari, silent hill and kill zone all prove that you are wrong. and god of war hasn't even come out yet. just thinking about how awesome that game is going to be is more entertaining than a gameboy.

it is great that they are still making games for PS2, I love ratchet and clank!

the game is awesome, but if you keep it psp exclusive then it will sell more of the awesome psp's. i just want a chili con carnage 2.

I think all the games from the psp to ps2 are good but the dont have the multi player features in SF you could play up to 8 players and in gta you could play 6 to me that made the psp versions better. I not saying porting to the ps2 is bad but you loss some of the good features that the psp version had.

I'm glad that they're doing this, but it's evil since Size Matters was nearly 1/3 of the reason I bought a PSP.

This IS good news, just because it's a port doesn't mean that it's going to be a bad game. The Syphon Filter port turned out pretty good.

Its games like this that hinder the sales of the psp and ps3.

The reason to get a psp is because its portable who the hell is going to carry around a ps2 every where they go I cant play my ps2 at work. The games that come to ps2 already did good on the psp and you almost always lose the online and multiplayer features.

Woot! If this happens! then I will have played all R&C games... well.. except for those not-so-good mobile versions

I hope this is true. I will definitely be buying this if these rumors come to fruition. P.S. I hope the same thing happens for Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep and Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, but I won't hold my breath.

the only reason I am buying this is to play it full screen on a large TV. But not for $29.99

they should change the name from size matters to going large.Strange I thought Ready at Dawn will do the porting since they are the industries prison wife.although porting sucks I really enjoy R&C and will get this one.

Unless it has a lot of new conntent what is the point? The lenght of the game was good for a handheld but terrible for a console.

It's bad enough that Rockstar wont keep the PSP's killer apps on the PSP, but Sony to?

Lord, have mercy... The PS2 is a monster, it's cannibalizing the sales of its younger brethren.

Hahaha, not much of a port. Let's face it, give or take a control stick, they're the same console. That's not a bad thing either. I've always wanted to play Size Matters, and the only diffference will be the... size of the screen. Hmm...

Awesome, I hope it does come out for ps2, It was upsetting that Tools of Destruction didn't come out for ps2, so maybe this will make up for it. By the way I would much rather have a psp that a peice of crap DS, have fun trying to do anything with your DS besides play graphically challenged games, plus psp actually has been getting some pretty good titles.

ShuuMutou

Awesome, I enjoyed the PSP version of R&C but didn't get around to finish the game, but I really need to save up for a PS3 or get parents to buy one somestage just to play the Tools of Destruction. People who are against ports, get over it, PS2 and PSP made by Sony, don't see why it matters if there's a port of Size Matters coming to PS2.

*sigh* another reason that ds>psp in 2007 My psp is only useful for Music/Video now because of the games that came out this year. More than half weren't good. Wipeout Pulse better be worth it >_>

Well it looks like I'll be playing it after all...the same goes for Twisted Metal.

Nice. This game was a lot of fun on the PSP. The online play could've used some tweaking IMO. One of the great games for the PSP. Good to see that PS2 owners will get to enjoy it.

Ardiendo_1

Lol there is so much innuendo in Ratchet and Clank titles. Size Matters, Going Commando, Tools of Destruction it is just so blatent and obvious. I can see this being a very rushed port if it is retailing so cheaply at release and being developed so quickly.

alsha3er78

will I be able to play this on my ps3? I tried all the ratchet and clank games on the ps3 and none of them worked.

Cobalt_Strike

I can understand why they want to do this. But its this very reason that discourages me to lay down cash on a PSP. If all it's key "exclusives" get ported to the PS2, why should I even consider a PSP? Right now I'm hanging it on Dracula X....but now I'm considering holding out for a potential Live/PSN/ Virtual Console version.
