Respawn 'just fine' amid rumors of EA Partners closure

Studio founded by Call of Duty veterans says it is "business as usual" amid rumors of third-party support program shutting down.

Respawn Entertainment is "just fine" amid rumors of the EA Partners label closing down.

The official Respawn Twitter account wrote today, "We're just fine over here." A follow-up from community manager Abbie Heppe explained, "Anyway, yeah business as usual."

Game Informer heard from sources today that the EA Partners label--which is designed to bring third-party games to market--was potentially shutting down.

Another title in development under the EA Partners label is Insomniac Games' first multliplatform title Fuse. This project will reportedly be unaffected if EA Partners does in fact close. Fuse launches May 28 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Call of Duty studio Infinity Ward founders Jason West and Vince Zampella created Respawn Entertainment in 2010 after Activision fired them, claiming insubordination.

West has since left the company to take care of "family issues."

Gamers may not have long to wait to learn of Respawn's first game. Zampella said last month that the studio will attend the 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo in June, adding "I have no intention of showing up empty-handed!"

Respawn's first game is reportedly a first-person science-fiction shooter that may support 3D and be titled Titan.

Actually EA has nothing to do with Infinity Ward Team .This is all Activision's Chair man  Dirty hand . After they done all this to Call of duty Franchise and raise the name to one of the top IP's they ,just like any normal team,  want Something equivalent to their work  which makes it more demand to their publishers like develop a Movie based on this game franchise . They just honest people doing their job to help the franchise but the dirty business  decisions monopolies them .

*Yawn* more boring EA news.  Wish this company would go under already...   It's like a skyscraper following at a VERY slow speed...

If Fuse and Respawns game does well, perhaps EA should second guess shutting down the program. I rather devs go under this label than get bought out..... If it was the second, then EA would be shutting down Respawn and Insomniac right now.....

Respawn is a joke and will remain so to me until they give me a game tittle, a trailer or even just some damn images of a game

Because it is from the founders of Infinity Ward, I'm willing to keep it on my radar. Hopefully there will be some RPG elements thrown in and it want just be a straight-up FPS.

this is a good news, they are very talented people and i'm pretty sure whatever Respawn gonna come out with, it will bring a lot of cash for EA.

People wrote them off after Medal of Honor... Then they went on to make Call of Duty. I wouldn't write these guys off. At the very least it should be a pretty solid shooter that feels great to play. I just hope the plot and theme are interesting.

with their pedigree i'm pretty sure pubs will be tripping over themselves to pick them regardless of what their next project is. Pretty similar to bungie's situation although they did have to give up their brand recognition though but  im sure they aren't worried at all.

goes to wonder what those round 50 people actually did if the projects are just fine without them....probably just marketing people living off the work of developers, if so good riddance I say, if not sorry for the offense...

Respawn took too long to show anything about their project and the hype train died. I doubt most fans of CoD even remember Zampella and West anymore. They lost their thunder behind their wall of silence and blurry images. People were saying CoD was done when they were fired... right...

And Insomniac is dying a slow painful death! After what they did to Ratchet and Resistance i could care less about them!

People really need to start double checking their sources.

Insomniac should stick to Ratchet and Clank and Resistance for now.  Plenty of adventures still to be had in both universes, Heck a new duo or hero in the Ratchet Universe might be an awesome new direction for the vets.

Considering the best Medal of Honor's were their games... the best CoD's were their games... I have high hopes for their next project.

Could we actually have a CoD killer on our hands? Doubtful but one can hope... assuming it's not as mindless... then again. If you make it a more skilled mans game you just scared off the fanbase you were trying to win. Sigh... CoD will be king forever at this rate.

@steelmouth It's actually a good thing that they've been keeping quiet and developing instead of wasting time on marketing. Waiting until they have something mind blowing to show is a pretty good idea. That is, if they do have something good to show.

@BoozerX Actually, these are the guys who were actually original with their FPS games and every time presented something new to the genre. I'm always gonna put TALENT over genre semantics. After all, the reason for the whole FPS oversaturation is that West&Zampella did so good and since then everybody else is trying to copy what they did.

@acelogan1989 ummmm. no. I would rather they do something new. Do you really want to see one of the MOST exciting FPS dev teams in history do a sequel or reboot? because of gamers like you we have 8 COD games.

@Fat_Boy_PT what show it so other companies can copy it ASAP? No thanks, keep it quiet and then crush the competition. Don't think you understand that if it weren't for these 2 there would of NEVER been a modern warfare. Activision wanted only WW2 games and these 2 pushed and pushed and we as gamers won when MW was released

@Fat_Boy_PT It takes more than one game for it to die. After these guys left many people felt a difference. COD now = no innovation. Same game more like expansion packs rather than sequals. Many people are starting to get tiried of it. Now Ghost might fix it. If activision is smart they will fix it and hire some new talents. But if they don't COD may soon become, madden, tony hawk, guitar hero etc

@azureblade89 Insomniac is now with EA and cant continue either of those franchises because Sony owns them.

@elanbg @BoozerX Very well put. The early COD games and especially COD 4 and Modern Warfare 2 were both fantastic in my mind.
