Resident Evil's Terrible Voice Acting Returns in This PC Remaster Mod

Stop it! Don't OPEN that DOOR!

Despite spawning a major series and generally being a very good game, the original Resident Evil had some atrocious voice acting. Like, unbelievably bad. There's a reason it's easy to find countless videos demonstrating this, and now thanks to a new mod, you can relive the awfulness if you own the PC remaster of the 1996 classic.

Over on the Resident Evil Modding Forum, user Bunny has released a mod that replaces the PC version's new dialogue--which was first added for the GameCube remaster--with that of the original game. The video above (made by another member of the forum, FluffyQuack) shows off what this is like, while you can also see a video demonstration made by Bunny below.

"It took me a long time to finish this mod mainly because there were more than 500 audio files to edit," Bunny explains. "And the dialogues were already mixed with sound effects like footsteps, gunshots, enemies, etc. So at some point the editing process became tedious and I had to take breaks more often."

The final result, if the videos are any indication, was worth the effort. It's one thing to hear the dialogue when playing the original version of the game, but pairing it with more modernized graphics makes it even funnier.

Of course, if the prospect of replacing the game's dialogue with performances that would be right at home in a Tommy Wiseau movie, this mod might not be for you.

You can download the mod here. As always when downloading mods online, you should be careful when installing anything like this on your computer.
