Resident Evil: Revelations Wii U features detailed

Upcoming action game will tap into Miiverse, use GamePad as mini-map; Rachel confirmed as playable character for Raid Mode.

'

Capcom today detailed the features exclusive to the Wii U version of upcoming zombie-shooter Resident Evil: Revelations. The Wii U GamePad will can be used as a mini-map as well as a means to manage weapon inventory, Capcom said.

In addition, Resident Evil: Revelations for Wii U will tap into Miiverse. Players will be able to post messages and leave tips for other players about how to successfully navigate a certain area or anything they wish. In addition, gamers can write messages for monsters (pictured).

The game also supports off-screen play through the GamePad.

On top of Wii U-specific news, Capcom announced that all versions of Resident Evil: Revelations will include Rachel as a playable character in the game's Raid Mode. This is in addition to the previously announced Hunk. Both new characters will be playable this weekend for those attending PAX East in Boston, Mass.

Lastly, Capcom announced that all versions of Resident Evil: Revelations will feature two new enemies: the Wall Blister and an unnamed creature.

Resident Evil: Revelations launches for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC on May 21. For more, check out GameSpot's review of the original 3DS version.

Good to see the Wii U getting some love, I'll be getting the PS3 version though. Happy gaming all.

Thing is I can't afford a Wii U. I realize that this is an old game, relatively speaking, but I do wish they'd dish out some of these updates as a DLC for my 3DS version.

i just think all games should have the option to play entirely on the gamepad i am totally loving taking the wii-u to work sitting at my desk with the console plugged in under it and the controler sitting on my lap looking just like a tablet.  my work collegues are so jealous

Nice for people that want a console version, but my wii u is for exclusives.

Good for my Wii U, but that map is too small. I will not get one since I have one in 3DS and I still didn´t finished yet.

This is cool, I might just pick this version up instead of the PS3 version. Regardless, I'll be getting the game, love me some Resident Evil.

Not hating, not flaming, not fanboying, but in all seriousness, is anyone else at all dissappointed that a seperate mini map and maybe inventory is all we can get out of the Gamepad? It seems the go to thing for third party games on the Wii U. I just feel that this lack of creativity for so many games so early in the console's life span has somewhat crippled it. Sure there will probably be better uses later on, but shouldn't they have at least tried more with the games at launch?

Yay, giant BOOBS!!!!!! that will sell more copies.........

Dont bother with silly things like game quality, and story telling. Just get some giant tits in there and it will sell like hotcakes. What else can you expect from a nation that has a very unhealthy fascination with school girls.

How did those necromorphs get on that ship!?

So more is less what you would expect from the gamepad.

Lol what a useless gimmicky shit. Basically, there is no point in having a second screen. The wii u is failling as hard as EA this year.

Rachel a playable character.  Who cares when she was alive all she did was get her face smashed in by an ooze monster after that she came back as a reoccurring fast tank semiboss.  Even the other characters said she was annoying.

What will her attributes be other then hilariously large boobs.

You can thank the 3DS for bringing back RE back to its roots MOFOs.

@IllegallyAwesum Until I caught on that this was in fact Raid Mode, I thought the Unveiled Edition was going to introduce time paradoxes as part of the storyline.

Which probably would have been awesome, the story was quite terrible. XD

@DarkSpidey69

Well the fact that it's an HD port of a handheld game is something to consider, the real reason Capcom even port this to console is cuz ppl wanted to play it in a bigger screen. If you haven't bought the 3DS version then getting this one is the likely choice but if you want the innovation side of things like what you just mention, then the 3DS is the way to go.

@franzito Sounds like Wii U version will be the best one.  Gimicky??  Whatever helps you sleep at night...

@liam82517 You shouldn't judge a book by its cover. RE:R was already considered a success (82/100 on metacritic) so its fairly safe to assume the overall game quality is fine.

@jorge69696 Capcom designed the game, asshat.  What does this have to do with the Wii U performance?  Because it just happens to have a feature the other versions don't?

@jcnba28 Why are you assuming I'm a sony fanboy just because I'm pointing a gimmick in the wii u? Can't take the criticism nintendrone?

@Suikogaiden Who the fuck cares, you're slamming Nintendo for the gamepad feature when they didn't design the fucking game.  You speaka the English, dipshit?  Oh noes, your Playstation doesn't have exclusives that the Wii U version will have, time to flame and pretend to be all fucking high and mighty.  You stupid piece of shit, get a fucking job.
