Raccoon City doomed...again; PS2 game features single-player and online multiplayer zombie-slaying action.

The Resident Evil franchise has once again been resurrected. Resident Evil Outbreak File #2 is now in stores for the PlayStation 2, says publisher Capcom. The game is the follow-up to 2004's Resident Evil Outbreak, which introduced online play to the frightful series.

The residents of fictional Raccoon City are once again menaced by zombies, created after a biological weapon infects several of the townsfolk. The game's characters must work together to both battle flesh-hungry undead and survive the ordeal before the government intervenes and levels the city.

Once again, the game can be played offline with computer-controlled party members or online with up to four human players. Each of the eight playable characters has unique abilities, and each has his or her own perspective on the overall storyline. There are more macabre locales, randomly generated enemies, and puzzling scenarios to overcome in this second chapter, which offers multiple paths for completion.

Resident Evil Outbreak File #2 is rated M for Mature and sells for $49.99. For more information on the game, check out GameSpot's full review.
