Capcom has announced Resident Evil 7 Biohazard for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, though it may actually be a reboot given that it's called Resident Evil Biohazard, and announced its release date as January 24. Watch the first trailer above.

The video begins with a phone ringing, and a bleary eyed character wakes up on the floor. The room is old and in ruin and the character picks up the phone, "They will kill you if you don't get out of there."

Now Playing: GS News Update: Resident Evil 7 and PlayStation VR Launch Date Announced

The character the moves through a house of horrors and the trailer eventually ends by revealing it is a new entry in Capcom's long-running survival horror series. Following the announcement trailer, Sony's Shawn Layden revealed Resident Evil 7 will be "fully compatible with PlayStation VR mode."

Additionally, a demo will be available today for PlayStation Plus subscribers to download and play. Obviously, this will be the non-VR version of the game.

It is believed that Capcom has hired designer Jordan Amaro to work on Resident Evil 7. He's no stranger to big-name franchises, as he also worked on 2015's Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. He also worked with Hideo Kojima on P.T. which was set to be a reboot of Konami's survival horror series, Silent Hill.

As of yet this has not yet been confirmed, but there are some similarities between P.T. and the new Resident Evil 7 trailer.
