Report: Watch Dogs coming to Wii U in fall 2014

Supposed release window for Nintendo version of Ubisoft's open-world game revealed.

The Wii U version of Ubisoft's open-world action game Watch Dogs will launch this fall, according to a new report at Nintendo Enthusiast.

After the "fall 2014" release window appeared on the Uplay store, a Ubisoft representative told the site that the date was indeed accurate. We have followed up separately with Ubisoft to confirm the date, but have not heard back as of press time.

We already knew that the Wii U version of Watch Dogs would debut after the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC versions on May 27, but we didn't know when exactly that would be.

I have a feeling my local game store is going to have like 2 copies of this sitting on the Wii U section, standing out like a sore thumb next to Wheel of Fortune and Wii Party U.

The Wii U edition of Watch Dogs could be interesting if they did use the game pad for hacking in the game. But this is just a after the fact port for the Wii U. Ubisoft will just release a paint by numbers port the the Wii U. the gamepad will not be used.

Well better late than never.  I've got the Wii U version preordered so as the old saying goes:  Good things come to those who wait.

The wii U is the most underrated nextgen console and this is a very intelligent move by Ubisoft and the gamemakers to release it for just about every platform.

The the next thing they have to is get all the ubisoft games to have crossplatform multiplayer pal.

Ubisoft was smart to release the sh*ttest version last.

I won't be buying this game for the Wii U, not when I'll be able to pick up on PC for a fraction of the price.

just imagine how water down this piece of shit version is gonna be

This is good news considering I'm going to pick up a Wii U this coming year because of Smash bros, Bayonetta 2, and Mario Kart 8. If handled well, this could be the definitive verson of Watch Dogs considering the gamepad has so much potential for it. After what Ubisoft has done with Rayman Legends on Wii U, I know they won't fail on this one (despite making it multiplatform).

I'm getting WD on PC, but this game is perfect for the WiiU controller, if they utilize the touch screen it'll be a whole new experience.

Tell ya what, Ubisoft... how bout you push the XB1 & PS4 versions back until fall so you can do it right instead of a shitty port of the 360 & PS3 version? Can the Wii U version altogether. You know it's gonna cost more to make than you'll make back. So what's the point? The next gen consoles need next gen development. Why devote dedicated time exclusively to the worst selling and worst performing machine? The longer you keep pointlessly supporting that train wreck, the longer it's gonna take Nintendo to replace it.

Another victory for Nintendo

Honestly, tjhis game looks very generic, like a wannabe GTA 5 but with better graphics.

...and zombi u, mh3u, Batmans, ass creeds, Mario kart...

So it's better than the ps4 shelf for at least the next 4 years.

@Megavideogamer  They have an entire studio dedicated for the Wii U version, i doubt that it will be a poor port. Certainly look and play better than the PS3 and 360 versions. Nothing like the Vaseline for the PS3 version...

Plus this is an advantage, because most bugs will be fixed. DLC will all be approved and waiting on the eShop servers when the game releases.

Sony: *yawn* took us only 3 months to sell 6M not a year and a half

@chev9346 when wii u starts selling i want to see how the haters fanboys and trolls talk. wii u will sell more then x1 in the long run and will have a way better library of games. Nintendo is not slouching this gen. if x and bayonetta come out this year along side the rest of the great titles. wii u will own no questions

Glongold

@chev9346 And it only took them 17 months to do it....*slow claps*

@chev9346 I actually think if Nintendo plays it's cards right and drops the price of the Wii-U and bring out the inevitable Mario Kart Bundle they will have console flying off the shelves, I'm 29 years old and I've played every Mario Kart on every platform from SNES to N64 to DS to 3DS.

This one seems to be the best one so far and it has all the features added over the years that made other versions so great, like the hang gliding, also the game looks wonderful with the bright colorful tracks that are more detailed than ever to the fact this Mario Kart is finally going to fix the way the better you do in a race the more chance right before the end your opponents get crazy fast and hit you with weapon after weapon. I understand they need to make the races challenging but don't artificially increase AI opponents abilities at the end of the race, if they made good AI racers they wouldn't have to artificially make opponents hard.

Nintendo said they would fix that and that's my only problem with the newer MKs, so frustrating to be in a huge lead for 3 laps and then get hit by 5 red shells at the end and lose.

@Flubbbs  They have a whole studio dedicated to it. The same one that did a beautiful job on the Wii U port of ACIV: Black Flag.

The only version that will be watered down is the PS3 version.

xcollector
xcollector

@Flubbbs It should only be as watered down as the piece of shit 360 & PS3 version. For that matter the XBONE & PS4 version look like a piece of shit too when you look at the new PC trailer.

amk11

@Drilbit777  They have their studio which did the Wii U port of ACIV working on it. I have faith

"Next gen consoles need next gen development"?

What exactly is "next gen" about either of those piece of shit consoles?

@Vodoo what are you talking about were you dropped on your head when you were a kid? wii u is selling better then x1 right now.

WHAT? the only thing similar about both games is there are open world.

@graceful_goku  It does look generic as hell but hopefully there will be a lot more to it than what they've shown so far.

@graceful_goku are you saying we can't have more than 1 open world sandbox game?

They better be yawning. They're staying up all night trying to replicate the greatest selling videogame console of all time.

@jwkaquemini  Lets not put our fanboying ahead of us

It's more like:

Sony: Congratulations Nintendo on breaking the 6 million unit mark. We still have faith in you, like our fans should too.

Now replace Sony with MS and you got both their statements as factual as they can be. Sony and MS stance on the Wii U is that it needs to succeed and they continue to support Nintendo and its' moves.Developers and fanboys may bitch, but they should consider joining the true master race as multi-platform enthusiast.

17 months? That's 49 months before the next good videogamm on any other machine.

Mraou

@mkeezay22 @chev9346I think MK and Smash are going to move units big time. Also, they need to announce a new Zelda and other enticing things at E3. Perhaps bring 3DS games to the Wii U and do some sort of cross-buy system and tie purchases to accounts.

@noncasualgamer  What's next gen about WiiU well it can play dvd's

PWshooter93
PWshooter93

@bunchanumbers @Vodoo Quite a thing in only a few months, but it's not like the WiiU isn't out for like 1,5 years... PS4 will surpass WiiU in like 2 months and at the end of the year XB1 will also catch up on the WiiU...

terrariafan247

Wii u is 2 years old ;)

Xbone is not even 6 months.

@Mraou @mkeezay22 @chev9346  Rumor is that they were going to announce it last year, but they didnt have the game at a state in which it was demo-able. Rumor is this year, new zelda announcement and Miyamoto IP announcement

noncasualgamer

Never said the Wii u was next gen fucktard. Go on, I'm waiting for my answer.

And you can't be serious if you don't already know how the Wii u is way more next gen then the other piece of shit ripoff consoles. Get the fuck otta here.

PS4 has nothing new. It has less features then the PS3. XOne has new features.

@detroitking02

If you start buying godamn games for it, I'm sure people will start turning it on again.

And yes, there are a LOT of good games to buy for the Wii U, go figure.

arispishere

@detroitking02 "Btw I own a WiiU I ended up putting it in my kid's room and no one has turned it on since December." so? the only thing  got out of that is that you may be a compulsive hoarder or you're too damn lazy to go to a gamestop to sell the thing. for either one you should probably seek help...

detroitking02
detroitking02

@rarerichz @PWshooter93 @bunchanumbers @Vodoo  XBONE has been out for 5 months and WiiU has been out for two years and XBONE is less than 2 million units behind already . I'm pretty sure XBONE will pass WiiU by the summer.  Btw I own a WiiU I ended up putting it in my kid's room and no one has turned it on since December.

rarerichz

@PWshooter93 @bunchanumbers@Vodoohahahaahahah x1 will catch up , dont make me laugh x1 doesn't have anything new. hardly any first party's anyone that buys that garbage is setting themself up for disappointment.

@terrariafan247 @rarerichz and all the rest.

Xone is doing just sliiiiiiiight better than Wii U did in the same time frame, so don't be so faithful Microsoft will do so much better.... or better at all.... than Nintendo in this generation.
