UPDATE: Kenichiro Imaizumi, senior producer at Kojima Productions, has confirmed with GameSpot that the leak is false.

The original story follows below.

According to the site Gentlemen Gaming, an anonymous source has revealed the entire plot synopsis for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The source is unverified, so the information should be taken with a grain of salt.

If the information is correct however, several important plot points have been revealed, including the unexpected return of major characters. The synopsis also details Big Boss' transformation into a villain, and hints at what the next Metal Gear games in the pipeline could be. Read the 3,000-word synopsis at your own risk.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is currently in development for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Publisher Konami has not yet announced a release date for the game. According to director Hideo Kojima, the game's world is about 200 times bigger than that of predecessor Ground Zeroes, which launched in March for past- and current-generation consoles.
