It took Remedy Games five years to bring its cerebral action adventure game Alan Wake to market, having announced the project in May 2005 and delivered it to critical approbation in May 2010. The turnaround time on Remedy's next effort will be quite a bit shorter.

This week, the Finnish game studio announced it is adapting its first game, Death Rally, for the iPhone and iPad. A specific release date for the top-down car-combat racer has yet to be established, but Remedy did indicate in the game's official trailer (below) that Death Rally will be available through Apple's app store in March. Pricing information was not disclosed.

The original Death Rally received a strong critical response upon its release for the PC in 1996. In it, players navigated through winding obstacle courses, blasting one another with heavy ordnance in an effort to be the first to cross the finish line. Winning races yielded dollars that gamers could use to upgrade their vehicles.

Beyond Death Rally, Remedy is also at work on a new, top-tier Xbox 360-exclusive title, but details on that project remain slim.

PC gamers looking for an idea of what to expect from the iOS can download a Windows version of the 1996 title for free through Remedy's website.
