Redfall Cross-Play, Cross-Save, And Co-Op Progression Explained

Yes, Redfall has cross-play, though it has one minor extra step if you want to utilize it.

Redfall is here, and the game's launch directly into Game Pass may have you looking to hunt vampires with friends across other platforms. But for that, you'll need cross-play. Thankfully, Redfall does have cross-play, but it might take you an extra step to set it up. Here's what you need to know about cross-play in Redfall, as well as how things like co-op, cross-saves, and story progression work.

Does Redfall have cross-play?

It sure does. Redfall is available on Xbox as well as PC platforms including Windows Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store. Players on different platforms can join together in teams as large as four players to liberate the titular town from the vampire threat. To do so, you'll just need to log in using your Bethesda.net account in-game.

Now Playing: Redfall Everything To Know

This is done in the main menu, and from there you'll be able to invite players who aren't on the same platform as you by using the Bethesda.net friends list that appears within Redfall. The process is simple, in our experience, so you should be loading out with your friends from other platforms with ease.

Does Redfall have cross-save features?

Nope, Redfall doesn't offer cross-saves, so while you can play with people on other platforms, you won't be able to carry your own progress across platforms. Therefore, you should pick a landing spot for your Redfall save data and stick to it.

Redfall co-op progress explained: What carries over?

There's no one way to treat co-op progression in games that can be played solo or in teams. We've seen a dozen or more different ways games have used this feature over the years, so it's no wonder you're curious how Redfall does it. Here's how it works.

In Redfall, your loot, level, and currency all carry over between solo and co-op play. However, your mission progress does not carry over. That's saved only to the host's game. This means if you play the game in co-op not as the host and complete three missions, for example, and raise your character to level 2, then go back to solo play, you'll see that your level remains intact but your mission progress will reset to where it was when you last hosted (or played alone).

This doesn't mean a thing for players who plan to play the whole game together anyway, but if you plan on mixing in solo and co-op play at different times, just be aware that it's the host who will retain everything, while their partners will only retain everything except mission progress.
