Simon & Schuster Interactive has announced that its latest real-time strategy game, Real War, has gone gold. The game has been in development for more than three years, and it is based on Joint Forces Deployment, a tactical war simulation developed for the US military.

Players assume control of either the US forces or a terrorist group known as the Independent Liberation Army, and each side includes 12 scenarios and around 40 hours of gameplay. The game features more than 50 different types of real-life units, including infantry, armored vehicles such as the M1A1 and the T80, nuclear submarines, and aircraft such as the F16 and the B52.

Real War was developed by Rival Interactive, and it will be available in stores next week for an approximate retail price of $39.95. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
