Rayman Legends demo hits XBL, PSN in Europe tomorrow

Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 demo for upcoming Ubisoft game arrives in Europe August 14, North America on August 20.

by

A demo for upcoming platformer Rayman Legends will arrive tomorrow in Europe and on August 20 in North America for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Ubisoft announced today.

The demo will feature the Castle Rock map, as well as maps from Teensies in Trouble and Toad Story. In addition, the Rayman Legends demo includes the Gallery of Heroes, where players can switch up their costumes as they see fit.

Rayman Legends was originally announced as a Wii U exclusive, though it was later confirmed for Xbox 360 and PS3, as well as PlayStation Vita.

The game's multi-month delay has allowed developer Ubisoft Montpellier to add an additional 30 levels and platform-specific preorder incentives, including Assassin's Creed III: Liberation's Aveline De Grandpré, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag protagonist Edward Kenway, and Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher costumes.

The game is due for release August 30 in Europe and September 3 in North America.

Hope the full game doesn't have 20 costumes for the teensies and 2 for rayman, globox, and that chick.

Though I'm happy I'll get to try this game on PS3 I'm still a bit upset it lost its exclusivity to the WiiU. I'm all for consoles having tons of exclusives, even if it's a console I don't own. Exclusives are what define the platform.

Fuckoff Ubishit !  You lied to the consumers over and over with Rayman Legends.  I can't wait to buy your game USED so you get nothing from me and I get to enjoy the game you made.

Doubt I'll play the demo because I have it on pre-order, so I'll just play these 3 levels in the full game :D

@19James89 have you tried the Rayman Challenges App from the eshop? it has new challenges every day and it's free for everyone.

@LordCrash88 People can demo the full game at launch, so no need to release one. I know it's not a good thing, but it's actually a common practice for me, with Multiplats. Specially those without demos. Just try out, and then buy if it feels fun.

@mav_destroyer You are a problem from a gamers point of view. I'm a PS guy, and I don't care if we lose exclusives as long as 2 things happen. One, the game still comes to PS systems. No RE0/REmake/Bayo2 sh*t happening. And 2, they don't change the game to fit new audiences, like what is happening with RE games for example.

@DeViLzzz The best thing you can try to do is get the game new on Wii U. If the Wii U version sells a ton and the other versions make almost no money, that will show them that the delay wasn't worth it. I don't see how any other scenario helps.

@DeViLzzz You could just download it for free... That way, Gamespot or whatever other retailer you use doesn't get it either...

@DeViLzzz

Unless you're a Wii U owner like myself, and planned on getting it on Wii U, you have no reason to complain. I preordered this game in february a week before it was supposed to come out, even bought 3 pro controllers for multiplayer, and then they delay it to september, and make it multiplat when i couldve bought it for PS3 instead and saved $150

@DeViLzzz congrats, for having to rant on ubisoft on gamespot. I'm sure they regularly browse through gamespot's channel and they'll probably cry and cry cos you'll buy their game used

@WoodenStick @19James89 Unfortunately due to my Wii U having severe issues of a unknown kind, I have been unable to enjoy this unique feature. *feels a burning sensation in the pit of his stomach*

@JOHNDOE69696969 @LordCrash88 I rather think it has something to do with the port, made by a different studio....so I guess the port is just not progressed enough to release a demo now. ;)
I know the "theory" of using a pirated version to demo the game on PC but honestly, I would prefer a real demo....

@JOHNDOE69696969 @mav_destroyer Believe it or not the WiiU does have some good exclusives. Yes there's not many at the moment. but the same was true when the 3DS first released. Look at it now, it's a kickass handheld.

@DiamondDM13 @mav_destroyer I'm not sure what #2 has to do with exclusivity, but look at it this way:

If all the consoles were more or less the same with the same games and the only difference was the brand name written on the console then what's the point of having 3 consoles? They should just make one universal console that plays everything. Now that, from a gamer's point of view, is bad. It would mean no competition and no reason to innovate.

BelaidKL

@Diegoctba Noooooooo!!!!! In all honesty though... It is the best console to play the game on.. Would've got it for the Wii-U too, if I had one

DiamondDM13

@mav_destroyer @DiamondDM13 From a gamer point of view, a single console with all the games is a good thing, it's less money to invest in hardware. But for companies, they need the exclusives to sell their hardware.

Still, for gamers, it's way better to buy only one piece of hardware and spend the rest on games, than to have to buy 3 consoles, which means you'll get less games.

As for the #2, it has to do with exclusivity because part of the reason RE games are not as good now has started when they finally arrived on the "Social" console, the Xbox. We (RE fans) were fine with single player experiences, which are a must for Survival Horror games, but in order to appeal to other audiences that play action heavy games like CoD and Gears, that also focus on multiplayer, they had to put in those features. The rest, as they say, is history.
