Rating board reveals unannounced Bethesda game

A post has emerged on the Australian Classification Board website listing 'Endless Summer' as a title from Bethesda Softworks LLC.

A posting on the Australian Classification Board's website has unveiled an unknown Bethesda title. Possibly code named Endless Summer, the entry revealed that the game has been rated MA15+ for "strong horror themes and violence".

One of the two teasers depicts burning sunflowers.

Zenimax Europe Ltd has been listed as the publisher, but no additional details have been disclosed.

Bethesda recently released two teasers for an unannounced project. The first teaser, which was posted on social media service Vine, shows shots of barbed wire, followed by a spinning 33 1/3 LP by The Moonlight Trio and George Shackley. Flashes of Johann Sebastian Bach's Air on the G String can later be seen.

A second teaser video posting on Vine followed. Bethesda vice president of marketing and public relations Pete Hines previously shut down rumours of the project being tied to the Fallout universe.

Last week, the publisher said it was aiming to make "considerably more noise" in 2013 than it did in 2012, with id Software shooter Doom 4 and The Elder Scrolls Online confirmed to be in the works.

This certainly looks like the game that was shown in the teasers. In the first teaser, behind the barbed wires, you could see a zombie-like man standing still, out of focus. Goes with the theme I'd say !!!

I'm assuming they're referring to Bethesda the publisher and not the developers behind Elder Scrolls.

Why would you make another FPS wolfstein game, I can't remember liking the first one. Why make a FPS corridor shooter when you KNOW COD is going out with another game. The people buying COD titles are the ones buying into FPS games, if you don't make it Cod like, you're not even trying.

I think it is possibly a different game than The Evil Within, but all the videos and teasers were definitely for The Evil Within. This is really poor reporting.

Well. This is awkward. I'm thinking GS probably ought to just delete this quietly and pretend it never happened.

GameSpot is so slow when it comes to news. It's like they read this shit on some other gaming website, then write their own version of the news... 2 days later.

Endless Summer? I always thought that it'd be fun if Neverwinter Nights got competition from a game called Alwayssummer Days, but Endless Summer works too.

@Ryuuken27

1. Well that's your opinion you didn't like wolfstein. It doesn't make it fact for everyone cause you say so.

2. First Person Shooter COD and FPS Wolfstein are two different games that can't be compared. Call of Duty is a modern army shooter, Wolfstein isn't. Wolfstein may be an FPS but it doesn't play and feel like COD. It has it's own type of gameplay.

3. Video games don't have to be made COD like to compete or just be better than COD itself. Clearly you don't understand that concept. All games are made in their own way if sometimes borrowing some ideas from other games. Take Battlefield 3. It's an FPS and it succeeded by not playing like call of duty, it had it's own gameplay and features separating it from COD. So it didn't need to be COD like to be better.

On another note, people aren't just buying into FPS Genre video games cause of Call of Duty. There is also Halo, Killzone, Bioshock, Battlefield, Gears of War just to name a few. Those games help keep the FPS Genre interesting and not getting too dull in the video game market. Stop being narrow minded please.

@Heartagram_03 Most news articles here do often seem to be via Polygon or another gaming news site so yeah, probably a bit of a delay going on there... =p

Shanks_D_Chop

@Lost-to-Apathy The amount of articles I've read here lately which feature "via Polygon" or similar is kinda silly. Starting to wonder if I should cut out the middle man (Gamespot) and start going straight to the sources.

@Hurvl If you're going for opposites... Neverwinter Nights and Alwayssummer Days imply the same thing. You'd want to call it something like Rarelysummer Days or similar to imply opposites. Ack just saying...

The game they are describing in the article has already been revealed. It's called "The Evil Within"

@Fembot_Eulogy Have you tried to play one of those buggy messes they call games?  Some could consider that horror.

@Shanks_D_Chop I was going word for word with the opposites: Never/Always, Winter/Summer, Nights/Days and the fact that the two (Neverwinter Nights/Alwayssummer Days) are similar just makes it more fun to me.

@pongley @fakharakhtar362 @kishen95 The studio which is doing it is owned by Zenimax, the owner of Bethesda, so they are technically the same company - it is the same case as Arcane Studios and Dishonored or IDSoft and its games
