Railroads! demo leaves station

Sid Meier's latest simulator offers taste of the life of a railroad baron; 272MB demo now available for download.

by

Sid Meier's been working on the railroad, and now it's PC gamers' turn to take over the tracks. The first demo for Sid Meier's Railroads! from 2K Games has been released and is now available for download from GameSpot.

The 272MB file lets gamers try their hand at running a railroad business without getting their hands dirty. The trial gives access to a portion of the game's scenarios and backdrops.

In Railroads!, which was released on October 17, players connect metropolises with the iron horses and watch the cities grow, play the stock market, and incorporate new technology to help the business boom.

Sid Meier's Railroads! is rated E for Everyone and retails for $39.99. For more info, read GameSpot's review.

Yes, check the demo out for sure. If it makes you want the game then maybe wait 'til a patch or 2 is released before you buy. I have it myself and it's pretty buggy at the moment. Otherwise it is a great game and I highly recommend it. If tycoon games seem like too much for you or you don't like having to worry about all the micromanagement that is common to them then this should be right up your alley.

I actually downloaded the demo off of fileplanet last night, good to see GameSpot's got it up now though. If you like tycoon/strategy games give this demo a try. I didn't think I'd be into it because I'm not all about railroads but it is surprisingly good and addicting, kept me up a good 4 hours after I should have been asleep... and it was just the freaking demo for crying out loud!

Sid Meier is the modern day Boss Tweed of the business world. Everything runs through him.
