R4 Gets JogCon

Namco introduces a new controller for use with Ridge Racer Type 4.

Comments

Namco is introducing a new controller for the release of R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 this December. It's called the JogCon, and it's a little bit different from Namco's previous NegCon controller.

This time around, Namco has decided to place an RC-ish control dial in the center of the control pad, which will make it easier (and more realistic) to play driving games. Aside from that, the controller looks very much like the one from Nintendo's Virtual Boy - and looks like a standard pad with the exception of the steering wheel front and center.

The JogCon will feature force feedback without the use of any additional batteries. Its Jog dial control is all electrical with no springs. According to Namco, the jog dial simulates the real driving experience so that when playing R4, players will achieve faster times.

The JogCon will be released in December along with R4. A price is undetermined at this time.
