R-Type Final confirmed for Europe

Metro3D Europe has today announced that it has secured the rights to publish Irem's upcoming shooter R-Type Final in PAL territories early next year. The game is the latest in the long-running R-Type series of arcade shooters, and it will feature around 60 different customizable ships and numerous power-ups for players to employ.

"We are delighted to confirm that we have secured this license with Irem and have rights to publish R-type Final throughout PAL territories," said Andy Law, general manager at Metro3D Europe. "A product of this caliber is proof that we mean business as an up-and-coming publisher to watch out for."

R-Type Final has been available in Japan since July, and it is currently scheduled for release in Europe in January 2004. No North American release has been confirmed at this time, but we'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.
