Preorders for time-bending Xbox One and PC game Quantum Break are "performing well ahead of plan," and the game is shaping up to possibly be a "mega hit," according to Xbox marketing executive Aaron Greenberg.

He appeared on the TXR podcast today to talk about marketing the game, which he said was especially challenging because it's a brand new IP. Microsoft took an "old school approach" to promoting the game, including sending representatives to basically every major country where the game will be available to get face-to-face with media and fans alike. This "pounding the pavement" approach has paid off, apparently.

"It's been great. Preorders are really strong; they're performing well ahead of plan," Greenberg said. "Retailers are continuing to increase their orders for the game, which we track and watch.

"Tomorrow [April 1], the reviews hit, so we'll see how they come in," he added. "We've been playing the game; we know it's a great game. Fingers crossed, but I think we're sitting on a mega hit."

Greenberg went on to say that he's also excited to hear what fans think of Quantum Break.

Also during the interview, Greenberg confirmed that Microsoft is reviving its "fanfest" event for this year's E3 2016. Further details about how things are changing compared to last year's event will be announced in the weeks to come.

Quantum Break launches for Xbox One and PC on April 5. The game's key hook is that its story is told across the game and a TV show. Some of the actors featured in the production including Shawn Ashmore (X-Men), Dominic Monaghan (The Lord of the Rings), Lance Reddick (The Wire) and Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones).

In other recent news, developer Remedy Entertainment has announced the game's PC graphics settings, while the developer has responded to reports about the game's resolution.
