Quake Competition Upcoming

Super Bowl weekend is coming up. And no, we're not talking the Packers-Broncos matchup, we're talking the Death Row-Unforgiven contest.

The Quake Clanring has announced the time, date, and location of T3, the third Quake team championship event. The brawl is scheduled to take place at noon on January 24 at Slamsite in Puente Hills, California. Those of us who aren't in Cali can watch the event over the QuakeTV network.

The West Coast champs, Death Row, are led by Dennis "Thresh" Fong, who might not need any introduction...but in case he does, he's the guy that catapulted into Quake player lore and legend when he won the Quake Clanring's Red Annihilation tourney in June and drove off with John Carmack's Ferrari GTS as his prize. Unforgiven, the clan that reaped top honors in the Clanring's East/Midwest competitions, is led by Frag 97 champion Tom "gollum" Dawson.

Both teams have already come out on top after the 32-team single-elimination play. Now they head to California for the best-of-three deathmatch competition.

The winner of T3 joins previous Quake Clanring champs Impulse 9, who walked away with bragging rights from 1996's competition, and Ruthless Bastards, champs of T2 in 1997.
