P.T. Easter Egg Discovered in Metal Gear Solid 5

Cancelled Silent Hills project not forgotten by Kojima Productions.

The chilling radio report in Konami's horror experiment P.T. has been discovered in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.

Inside a tent at the Ngumba Industrial Zone, which is located at the Angola-Zaire Border, a cassette player can be found, which if activated will play the same news report that perpetually looped in P.T.

The radio news announcer's voice--this time not distorted--and the unnerving report of a domestic murder that he reads aloud, was an inescapable feature in P.T., with details of the crime repeated like a chant throughout the game.

Arekkz Gaming, a YouTube channel with more than 100,000 subscribers, appears to be among the first to have made the discovery. A video below explains in more detail what players encounter if they search for the cassette player.

This does not mark the first reference to P.T. in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. A year ago it was discovered that the horror game's iconic ghost, Lisa, could be deployed as an inflatable decoy.

P.T. launched on PlayStation 4 in August 2014. It was a free game demo that, when completed, revealed a world-premiere trailer for Silent Hills, which at the time was a new project in development at Kojima Productions.

However, Konami elected to cancel the Silent Hills project. In the aftermath, it also removed P.T. from Sony's servers. These events came in the wake of a well-known fallout between Kojima Productions and Konami.

In March, GameSpot revealed that Kojima is expected to leave Konami shortly after the release of Metal Gear Solid V, due to a relationship breakdown with his employer Konami. It is not clear how the situation has evolved since.

Peter Moore, an executive at Electronic Arts, expects Kojima and Konami will "kiss and make up."
