Psygnosis announced today that it is working on racing game Rollcage, due for PC and PlayStation platforms in the spring of 1999.

Psygnosis says that the cars in the game are "low-slung mean machines that achieve incredible speeds and pull some of the most outlandish maneuvers. High G-forces mean they stick to surfaces like glue, enabling them to drive along tunnel walls and even ceilings. Their indestructible design makes death-defying flips, drops, and crashes a breeze. Even when they flip upside down, they just keep going. Such extreme handling means there's no need to stick to the confines of a track or pay heed to designated routes. This is 360-degrees no-rules racing."

Players won't just race (in one of six model vehicles Psygnosis is providing for the game), they'll also battle. Various types of weaponry will be available to the Rollcage player, which he can use to take out, or attempt to take out, other racers.

The game features include eleven single-player tracks, some of which sport alien gravity or unusual weather effects. Three tracks have been designed with multiplay in mind. Rollcage will feature LAN and Internet play, plus a split-screen mode.

Minimum system requirements will be a Pentium 166 MMX with 32MB RAM and 3D accelerator card. Recommended system requirements will be a Pentium II 233MHz with 32MB RAM and 3D accelerator card.
