Psychonauts 2 Passes $3 Million, Nearing Target
The bulk of support thus far has come from investment.
The crowdfunding campaign for Psychonauts 2 has cleared $3 million. That's about 91 percent of the Fig campaign's $3.3 million funding target. The crowdfunding effort ends on January 12, 2016.

At press time, funding stands at $3,015,828 from 18,079 backers
Of the $3 million that's been raised so far, $1.436 million has come from traditional pledges, while $1.579 million has come in the form of investments. Fig, unlike Kickstarter or Indiegogo, allows people to have a monetary stake in a game, meaning if the game does well, they'll get to share in that success.
The Psychonauts 2 crowdfunding campaign raised its first $1 million in just 24 hours, with the next $1 million coming just days later.
The $3.3 million budget is far less than is actually needed--previous estimates suggested the project would need upwards of $10 million to happen. The Fig campaign explains that Double Fine is "putting up a significant portion of the development funds" itself, and an unspecified "external partner" is also chipping in.
Psychonauts 2 was officially announced on December 3 during The Game Awards. The game is slated to arrive some three years from now in fall 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
