KOEI has announced that Dynasty Warriors for the PSP has gone gold and is on schedule for its March 24 release. The game will be one of several launch titles for Sony's first foray into the portable market. It was developed by KOEI's internal team, Omega Force.

The shrunken-down version of Dynasty Warriors borrows many of the same elements from its console counterparts. The game still focuses on a hero from ancient Chinese history who must bear the load of slaughtering countless enemies in hopes of swaying the tide of war. There are 42 characters to choose from, each with various weapons and fighting skills to slice and dice the onslaught of enemies.

There will be some PSP-exclusive features, however. A sidebar gives information such as a map and the morale of both warring parties. The PSP version will also let gamers take up to four bodyguards, each with unique skills, into battle. There are 200 bodyguards to unlock, and they can be swapped between games via a Memory Stick Duo.

Dynasty Warriors is rated T for Teen and will retail for $49.99. For more information on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
