While portable gaming fans have been able to download games from the PSN store for their PlayStation Portables in the past, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced today that it will be releasing a range of themed collections together on UMD. These will be made available across PAL territories--including the UK, Australia, and mainland Europe--for the first time.

In mid-October, Euro PSP owners will be able to buy the PlayStation Network Collection Puzzle Pack, which combines the brain-bending Lemmings, Go! Sudoku, and Go! Puzzle on the one disc. All three of those games have been available individually at retail.

Later in October, the second collection, Power Pack, will bundle a trio of downloadable exclusives: flOw, Beats, and Syphon Filter: Combat Ops.

According to SCEE, there will be more PSP-exclusive collection packs "to be released throughout 2009." No price point has been announced for the collections yet.

[UPDATE]: An representative with Sony Computer Entertainment America told GameSpot it is not currently planning North American releases for retail collections of PSN games.
