PSN PSP games coming to UMD

Themed collection packs to showcase PlayStation Network games for PlayStation Portable on store shelves in PAL territories from October.

While portable gaming fans have been able to download games from the PSN store for their PlayStation Portables in the past, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced today that it will be releasing a range of themed collections together on UMD. These will be made available across PAL territories--including the UK, Australia, and mainland Europe--for the first time.

In mid-October, Euro PSP owners will be able to buy the PlayStation Network Collection Puzzle Pack, which combines the brain-bending Lemmings, Go! Sudoku, and Go! Puzzle on the one disc. All three of those games have been available individually at retail.

Later in October, the second collection, Power Pack, will bundle a trio of downloadable exclusives: flOw, Beats, and Syphon Filter: Combat Ops.

According to SCEE, there will be more PSP-exclusive collection packs "to be released throughout 2009." No price point has been announced for the collections yet.

[UPDATE]: An representative with Sony Computer Entertainment America told GameSpot it is not currently planning North American releases for retail collections of PSN games.

Yet agian the US gets the shaft. We have been a major supporter of the PSP for years now and they still shaft us with good bundles, and colors, as well as crapy late to the party addons that hang in limbo so long that when it releases nobody cares anymore. Sadly I love my PSP and it has some killer games on it, way more hardcore RPGs, and non kid geared games then the DS lite. Unless Nintendo dose something major with this so called DS update then I'll just stick with my PSP/Xbox360 set up. (Camera and Music playback are not going to cut it for me they need to enhance the darn Wi-Fi to support WPA, get the internal Antena to stay connected for more then 5 seconds, and get rid of the Ghosting on the DS Screen, as well as enhance the sound quality) At least the PSP's Stero speekers can delever more then Mario Crpitic beeps, bloops, and bomps every 2 seconds. The DS Lite seems to just be a mini N64 machine at best with a new control scheme. The games are still useing old 2D graphical effects, and even worse 3D Texures that were cool back in the N64 days and not now.

It'll probably be like £14.99 at least, but 3 games for the price of 1? Bargain!

fafabregas said it right, these collections should be released by genre. Although variety umd's are an interesting thang.

Good idea by Sony. They should do a shooter pack like MGS , SyphonFilter , Socom . And A platformer like Ratchet and Clank , Daxter , Ratchet and Clank the other one with clank . These will sell !

Its a good idea but I think it should be more than 3 games.

Very smart idea, although these games are not massive in file size a lot of us in the UK are still living in the stone age of internet speed. I think it will sell pretty well in the UK. All they need now is to release some better titles.

As long as they're the same price as they are on the PSN, or around £5 higher. This should be all good for people who don't have access to the PSN. :)
