Changes on the way.

Sony has announced that it will "terminate" some Ustream features on PlayStation 4 and other systems in the near future.

In a statement on its website (via NeoGAF), Sony explained that, come August 1, 2016, the following Ustream features will be removed from PS4 and the Live from PlayStation app:

  • Broadcasting gameplay to Ustream.
  • Viewing Ustream broadcasts from "Live from PlayStation" on the PS4 system, PlayStation App (PS App) and PlayStation Vita (PS Vita).

After the shutdown, players will still be able to broadcast their gameplay to places like YouTube, Twitch, and DailyMotion. Additionally, the streams from those sources (but not Ustream) will continue to be broadcast to the Live from PlayStation app.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we appreciate your understanding," Sony said.

Finally, Sony explained that August 1 shutdown date "may shift" depending on your local region.
